Margaret Ambridge

My Garden Palimpsest is a companion exhibition to the works I produced for writer Carol Lefevre's book Bloomer (Affinity Press). I was particularly interested in her notion of the 'garden diary'.

'From the earliest memories of childhood spent in parental gardens Margaret Ambridge reflects on a life of gardens and gardening. Layered, complex, overwritten or inflected by all they encounter, gardens are life in transition; uplifting, comforting, frustrating, providing support and solace in times of grief, holding up a mirror to the inevitability of life’s journey. My Garden Palimpsest wrestles with composting memory, recognising that decay and life are one in the same.'
